The beautiful and moving Incipiens – an eight week team project from the MDS Graduate Diploma of Advanced 3D Productions – has been selected for Panorama screening at the Melbourne International Animation Festival (MIAF) taking place from the 22-28th of June 2009.

The selection represents a fantastic honour for MDS as the esteemed competition is a real global heavyweight in the varied field of animation, and this is the first year that MDS has entered a selection of student shorts.

Incipiens tells the story (uniquely in reverse) of a tortued soul grappling with the shackles of depression. It features innovative use of the Autodesk Maya fur tool, which has been manipulated to produce a ‘painterly’ effect.
