Fracture, the Auckland based digital design and development studio founded by Nick Fracture (a graduate of our 2000 New Media Diploma) has won big, taking out the South by SouthWest 2009 Interactive Award for best business website! The website that won them the award was for Jasmax, one of New Zealand ’s biggest Architecture firms. The website is pretty funky and definitely deserves a look and for those interested, was built in a completely 3D environment using Adobe Flash and Papervision 3D (the content management system behind the site is built in .Net).
The South by Southwest awards are a pretty big deal in the web world, with MDS graduate and Fracture Creative Director Nick Fracture saying “To win at South by Southwest is just an amazing honour. We were the only Kiwis in the finals, up against the biggest names in web design from around the world and we took it out. It’s quite a coup.” The other websites Fracture’s Jasmax creation were up against were CNN, Lowes, Zeus Jones and Modernista. The other award categories include Activism, Blogs, Community, Motion Graphics and Technical Achievement. Keep an eye on the site for details on 2010 entries, where websites launched or redesigned in the 2009 calendar year will be valid for entry.
