Metonymy pairs up visual artists with writers/poets to create masterpieces!

Some of you may have heard of Metonymy before – it started in Auckland last year.  It’s a pretty cool concept that aims to encourage collaboration between visual artists and writers/poets.  It’s back again for 2009 and you might still be able to sneak in and register – they close April 4th!

When you register, each artist is paired with a writer/poet.  You then get about one month to work with this person and create a collaborative, multi-disciplinary piece of work.  The best of the work produced will then feature in an exhibition associated with Auckland’s Writers and Readers festival (running May 13-17).  It’s a great opportunity to explore media outside of your expertise, and spark off another creative sort.

Metonymy is encouraging “the exploration of new artistic disciplines such as graffiti art and electronic media” this year, so if you’d be keen to get involved, head to the Metonymy blog for more information and instructions.  It’s a great opportunity for you graphic artists and animators to get a bit more exposure for your work.

We’re looking forward to seeing what comes out of this interesting new concept!
