Cadbury has been proving really creative in their recent advertising work and seems to be putting a lot of effort and money into the way they present themselves. Their work definitely combines great strategic and creative advertising elements, it is an engaging and fun brand, and it is using a range of innovative digital media available to them – flash website for the in-house production house with the use of subtle visual effects in their TV ads.
One of their ads from 2007 (the first in the series for the Dairy Milk product) was voted Best Ad by New Zealanders at the Fair Go Ad Awards, and it is an ad that remains one of my favourites.
Creative advertising combined with clever branding, and good use of new media options give Cadbury that edge. The shift in style came from Fallon London who secured the account by pushing for “entertainment pieces” which would appeal to a broader range of consumers and the use of viral marketing to get it that step further.

A little daring as the connection between the ad and the product isn’t evident, but Cadbury surely got a lot of mileage out of its recent ads for Cadbury Dairy Milk.
Coming up with great ideas is a skill that can be learned and enhanced on MDS’ Diploma of Creative Advertising and creating some great visual effects for ads is also a natural career option for graduates from our Diploma of Visual Effects and Motion Graphics. And flash websites? Learn it at MDS too with our Diploma of Digital Media.
And maybe Cadbury should have a look at this for their next ad!

Loving it!
The eyebrow advert was epic, i remember seeing it for the first time, ahh the memories!
Great advert..
I have 3 young girls and as soon as the advert is on TV they pick up on the sound track, stop what they are doing and watch the advert. Any age will love this advert.
