The students from HighPolyMonster Productions have finally finished their 18-month long Graduate Diploma of Game Development on a high note with a red carpet event on Friday 3rd of July celebrating their game, Nightfall. And they have also impressed!
Top players from the NZ game industry were present as well as members of the Media. The students spent the night talking to the media and potential employers about their game, Nightfall. And top feedback were being heard throughout the event.
Journalists from Game Console, PC World, Net Guide were part of the guests as well as industry guests from Stickmen Studios, Grinding Gears, Mere Mortals NZ, Binary Star, Virtual Spectators, Rock Solid Games…
Christian Schladetsch, a top game developer for the last 15 years and director of Blue Lion Software Limited says, “The MDS launch party for Nightfall was a real surprise. The students team had produced a sophisticated multi-player first person shooter in just six months, which was actually fun to play. This would be notable in the professional industry – coming from a student team, it is truly remarkable. Congratulations HighPolyMonster!”

People on the red carpet
The night started with a walk down the red carpet and guests were being photographed as true stars in front of the Nightfall launch party banner. Then the students gave a presentation of their game and guests could spend some time playing Nightfall on the 3 computer pods set up for the occasion. Students spent some time with players and talked them through the game, giving some hints, and generally discussing the ups and downs of producing a full 3D game in under six months.

And it is not all over for the team. Some students have already left for Australia to look for work, and Anthony Lee, lead artist on the game is even flying this week to Singapore to try his luck in an up and coming game industry.
Their game will also be rated by an Industry Panel and entered in a number of competitions around the world. And maybe their concept will even be picked by a publisher one day.
