Are you an avid blogger, a  skilled or up-and-coming web developer, a code monkey or just wanting to play with WordPress in your spare time?
If you are any one of the above then WordCamp might interest you. Wordcamp is a two-day conference that focuses on “everything WordPress” held in Wellington over the weekend of the 8th and 9th of August 2009.

The Wordcamp New Zealand website states, “WordCamps are informal, community-organized events that are put together by WordPress users like you. Everyone from casual users to core developers participate, share ideas, and get to know each other. WordCamps are open to WordPress.com and WordPress.org users alike.”

Early bird tickets are available for this conference taking place at Mt Victoria Bowling Club in Wellington,  and for NZ$75 you can get yourself a sweet weekend conference and hear from top speakers including Matt Mullenweg, founding developer of WordPress. He will be a keynote speaker but will also direct some more hands-on sessions focused on the WordPress platform and the community around it.

WordPress started in 2003 and has since become a really powerful blogging and/or website building tool. Maybe you have not realised it, but this very blog (It’s What You Make Of It) is itself built using the WordPress platform.
Students from Media Design School’s diploma of Digital Media have been working with WordPress to create websites responding to real clients’ needs to have a fully functional website that they can update themselves.

So if you are convinced about WordPress or are just wanting to find out more and mingle with like-minded people from the digital media industry, then head down to Wellington on the 8th and 9th of August to participate to this WordCamp.
