Aniwow 09 – Impressive Animation Competition

Aniwow! 2009 is one of Asia’s real up-and-comers in the international student animation festival calendars. MDS entered a swag of material last year for the first time with Visual Effects reels from grads Ale Danel, Gabriel Souza, Marko Los and Jordi Bada all gaining official selection, and the Oddballs game from MDS’s Diploma of Interactive Gaming receiving an official honour.

This year we’ve raised the bar with a record 15 entries (for us) including 3D shorts Incipiens,the dark and twisted stop-motion short Hellspital, and some fine work from the Diploma of Visual Effects and Motion Graphics – the above music video from Paul McDowell included. The organisers have collaborated with the acclaimed French Animation School Les Gobelins on the teaser trailers for the awards – you can see these here.
