Ever wondered what Auckland, New Zealand could look like in 2100?
Well, with the power of computers but most importantly imagination, we are able to bring to you examples, realistic or not, optimistic or not of how Auckland could be 91 years from now.
Students from the diploma of Visual Effects and Motion Graphics at MDS have taken the brief of imagining Auckland in 2100 to a complete new level. Each student showed personality, creative uniqueness and had it’s own take on the brief.
Each futuristic Auckland is thus drastically different.

It was a really hard task to choose amongst the work created by the students and decide which ones to profile up here for your viewing pleasure. So much so, that I invite you to watch more of those amazing visualisations on our vimeo channel if those presented to you here are not enough to satisfy your curiosity of what’s to come in our city’s future.
This exercise is always an exciting project for students and had been already well received in past classes.
It is a great illustration of the level of technology and skills developed nowadays, which enables everyone us to imagine the future, but also recreate the past more accurately, more vividly. Computers and software such as Combustion, AfterEffects, and even photoshop give us the tools to design practically anything.
So now, the sky’s the limit.
