This year’s AnimFX is now open for registration and there are lots of great speakers, workshops, and masterclasses to attend for those interested in a career in Games, VFX, and Animation.
Not only a great opportunity to hear from talented people working in the Games, VFX, and Animation Industries, AnimFX presents huge networking opportunities; and we all know it is also who you know that can make a difference when getting into such a competitive workplace.
Speakers from Weta Productions, Sidhe Interactive, researchers such as Paul Debevec whose work been used in films such as Spider Man 2, Superman Returns and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button will be talking at AnimFX in Wellington next November; as well as people who work or have worked at a very high level for studios such as Sony Pictures, Warner Bros Studios, Walt Disney…

John Stevenson - Director of Kung Fu Panda
The event will take place over three days – 5th, 6th, and 7th of November in Wellington and will be held at two venues: Te Papa and the Museum Hotel. There are even student-specific workshops on the Saturday and the highlights of them all: the people running the workshops. For only $99 for the day (and places are really limited), you can get access to a huge amount of knowledge, tips, advice, and increase your network drastically.
Indeed, John Stevenson, director of Kung Fu Panda will talk about “traditional art first, software second” (workshop aimed at children aged 7-11yo)
Jeffrey Conrad will “take traditional art to the next level” in his workshop. Jeffrey Conrad, President & Chief Creative Officer of American Greetings Properties.
Another exciting workshop is led by two top people from Sidhe Interactive in Wellington and they will advise on Project management and give practical advice to help complete projects on time.

Jeff A Okun - Visual Effects
One exciting one for students is Jeff A Okun’s workshop. He is no other than the Visual Effects master behind 20th Century Fox’s The Day The Earth Stood Still. He will be talking about Visual Effects in a Student Award, certainly giving some great tips on how to stand out and get those great awards to add to your reels and CVs.
The day will be closed off with Joseph Olin, president of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences.
Who should attend:
Producers, directors, digital media professionals, creative leads, vfx supervisors, digital artists, game developers, ad agency executives, writers and teachers.
For more information, visit their website and register online – places are limited.
