Each year Yellow run an art competition to select the covers of the 18 White Pages phone books distributed throughout New Zealand.
The competition started back in 1990 and over 350 pieces of art have graced the cover in this time. It has the potential to make you a household name (after all, White Pages are delivered to each household) and you also get the chance to bump up your bank account – there are great prizes to be won in addition to having your art feature.
Entries in the awards have closed for the 2010 books and it’s now up to the public to vote for each regional winner. And one of the finalist’s in the Auckland region just so happens to be one of the MDS family, Joanna (Andrei) Lim from our Diploma of Graphic Design.
If Andrei’s item is selected for the Auckland book, she will receive a tidy $2,000, and the chance to win $20,000 in the national finals. Each region will also hold an auction of the finalist work, with the Auckland auction happening on December 1 and money going to a charitable trust who distribute funds to community initiatives in each of the 18 phone book regions.
So head along to the Yellow Art Awards website, select the Auckland region and help Andrei get her piece of art published! Voting closes 22 November.

Well done – have voted
– Good Luck
A big congratulations to another finalist and MDS Graphic Design graduate Troy Packer. His work “Little Taniwha’s” is a Northland finalist also. So go vote for him as well!!! It’s great to see MDS grads being recognised for their outstanding work!
Keep up the good work MDS’ers and all the best to our two finalists!
